106. Sex Drive

106. Sex Drive

Sex Drive is one of those raucous teen sex comedies that I am a pretty big fan of. My teenage years were never like these flicks so I kind of live vicariously through them. Come to think of it, my adult years aren't exactly living up to my dreams either. Hmmmm...

The premise here is that a geeky guy has been chatting online with a total babe. One night, she tells him that if he drives out to meet her, she'll "take care" of him. Upon hearing this news, his buddy convinces him that a road trip is in order. Naturally, hijinks and shenanigans ensue.

There really aren't many new aspects a movie like this can bring to the table. Bullying older brother? Check. Younger brother hogging the spotlight? Check. Attractive best friend whom our lead has a crush on? Check. What makes this one work is the cast. Josh Zuckerman, Amanda Crew and Clark Duke are our leads. Together, the three have a chemistry that just works really well. James Marsden is the older brother and Seth Green has a memorable turn as a sarcastic Amish guy.

Sex Drive isn't a top of the line flick. It's essentially a B-movie at heart. If you're a fan of this particular genre however, it's really well worth watching.
